David & Margaret Frith

Both fellows of the Craft Potters Association, they set up their first workshop in 1963 and currently work from their pottery in Denbigh, Wales. Their work, whether domestic or decorative, gives a new twist to traditional forms and decorations.

John Higgins

John’s work references architecture and uses layers of glazes to decorate his unique forms. The appearance of buildings and houses adds a domestic element to their stark forms.

Stephen Murfitt

Head of Ceramics at the King’s School Ely, Stephen specialises in raku fired pots reflecting his interest in contemporary forms. His pots often undergo repeated firings in order to perfect their finish and lustre.

Stephen Parry

Inspired by traditional English stoneware, Stephen makes pots to be used as well as appreciated as beautiful objects. Living and working in Norfolk, he is also a part-time tutor at Camberwell College of Arts

Phil Rogers

Exhibited and celebrated internationally, Phil’s salt glazed ceramics have an elegance that belies his subtle use of decoration. His skill has won him awards at the Eistedfodd in his native Wales and also abroad.

Micki Schloessingk

Born in London, Micki now works in Wales but her devotion to ceramics art has taken her all around the world. Her salt glazed bowls are beautiful yet tough enough to be used.

Susan Slegg

Self-taught, Sue uses smoke firing and a range of media to investigate organic forms. Her pieces have a natural flow and sweep – evidence of her love for both clay and the nature that forms it.

Ruthanne Tudball

Exotic forms and rich glazes are married together in Ruthanne’s work. Sodium vapour glazing emphasises the marks and rhythms of her unique throwing technique - frozen in time by the firing.

Viv Allen

Inspired by the colours and textures of nature, Viv’s hand modelled pieces reflect the repetition and individuality of the elements that make up the natural world.

Paintings

Stuart Green

A former head of art at the King’s School Ely, Stuart’s painting records his love of scenery and the textures that inspire his work. The harmonious use of bright colours in bold strokes is a particular feature of his work.

Pastels

Clive Eastland

Self-taught, Clive works solely in pastels – a medium that he has truly mastered. His works are filled with a gentle atmosphere and a remarkable degree of naturalism.

Wood

Mike Scott

Known as “Chai”, he produces one-off pieces of turned and sandblasted wood. Despite the contemporary forms and methods, the natural and ancient beauty of the wood is preserved in his treatment.

Glass

Ewa Wawrzyniak

Ewa uses the freedom of sand casting to produce poetic and dream-like visions in coloured glass. She cites The Poetics of Space by Gaston Bachelard as a key influence on her work.

Abu Jafar

“Jafar takes his inspiration from psychology, philosophy, classical music as well as day-to-day human existence. By producing art that is far from traditional, he is actively attempting to shatter staid ideas of the past regarding art…”

Enamel

Janine Partington

Inspired by the natural word and her artistic upbringing, Janine uses intricate stencils to produce simple yet attractive enamelled panels whose true colours only emerge after they have cooled from the red heat of the kiln.

Photography

Nick Mellor

Informed by his day job as an art director, Nick is also an award-winning freelance photographer.

Jewellery

A new selection of Autumnal Jewellery by Claire Lowe, Dorothy Erickson, Ann Faragg and Claire Tucker.
